The series takes place onboard the KC-135 refueling tanker, where Tiscareño-Sato flew for nearly eight years after being commissioned atop our shining Campanile. The book launched Oct 28th from the flightline at the Wings Over Houston Airshow straight to the #1 spot on Amazon’s Children’s Aviation Books Bestseller list. The family-owned firm just published the 3rd book in series titled Taking Flight with Captain Mama / Despegando con Capitán Mamá. In 2022, Graciela Tiscareño-Sato’s (trombone ’85, PRD ’88) indie publishing company, Gracefully Global Group, published second editions of the first two books in the six-time, award-winning Captain Mama series inspired by her decade of aviation service in the Air Force.
